This year’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from 5-7 p.m. at Whaley Children’s Center, 1201 N Grand Traverse, Flint MI 48503.
This event is a chance for Whaley staff and children to show appreciation to the hundreds of volunteers who donate their time and talents to all different areas at the Center. All volunteers will be recognized at the event; however seven special awards will be presented to individuals and groups who have exceeded expectations in the areas of volunteering. These awards include: Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer Organization of the Year, Mentor of the Year, Special Event Volunteer of the Year, Family Volunteer of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Civic Groups of the Year.
“We are forever indebted to our kind and gracious volunteers,” said Whaley Director of Development Katrina Khouri. “Whaley would not be able to continue transforming the lives of close to 80 children each year without the support of our warm-hearted community and the support of organizations like HealthPlus who volunteer and help us show appreciation hundreds of other volunteers.” She continued, “As the presenting sponsor of this year’s event, HealthPlus of Michigan has a deep-rooted commitment to local causes and organizations.”
“As a company, HealthPlus supports community initiatives that are aligned with its corporate vision – A Healthier Community,” said Director of Community Programs Colleen Sproul. “The work and dedication of Whaley Children’s Center volunteers certainly reflects that vision, and we are delighted to support recognition of their selfless efforts.”
Donations from Airhead Balloons, Bubba O’Malley’s, Two Women and a Tray, Funtastic Inflatables, Pepsi Beverages Company and 5 Star Entertainment will make this event an extremely enjoyable event for all staff, children and guests.
