Back to School Drive in Full Swing at Whaley Children’s Center

Whaley Children’s Center’s annual Back to School Drive is underway and this this year, as in years past, the staff at the Center are looking to collect basic school supplies as well as new clothing for each child to wear as they start another academic year.

In terms of supplies, all 48 children will need:

  • Backpack
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Pencil box
  • Colored pencils
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Calculator
  • Pocket folders
  • Ruler

In addition to these supplies, the Center’s younger, elementary aged children will need:

  • Glue sticks
  • Crayons
  • Construction paper
  • Colored markers

Finally, all older children will additionally need:

  • Highlighters
  • 1” three ring binders
  • Ruled paper
  • Dictionary and thesaurus

Another important component to Whaley Children Center’s Back to School Drive is the collection of new clothing for each child to wear throughout the school year. All types of new or like new clothing will be accepted; however, many children are required to wear uniforms.

Children who wear uniforms will need:

  • Light blue, navy, white and yellow polo shirts
    (both long and short sleeve)
  • Khaki and navy pants
  • Loafers/Oxfords
  • Socks

Whaley Children’s Center is an independent, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1926 that provides residential child care services to children age 5- 17 years old who have suffered chronic and profound abuse and neglect.
